The API-type of keypad is an assembly of a silicone rubber membrane with plastic buttons.

The API-type of keypad is an assembly of a silicone rubber membrane with plastic buttons. The plastic buttons may have printings, laser etching or metallization up to custom requirements. Additional frames can be applied to create a full assembly unit.
Similar to the the other types of keypads, electrical conductive contact element can be added to create a switch function when pushing onto a contact pattern on the PCB or FPC. Various contact elements are available to meet specific electronic switching requirements.
